I Wanna Go Fast

Saturday we did something we've never done before. Been somewhere we've never been. Seen something we've never seen. We went to the races. In all our years of living in Georgia neither of us had ever been to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Pete and Lisa had some cheap tickets from the boy scouts and they invited us to go with them. Saturday was the truck series, which ended up being pretty fun. There wasn't as much traffic and we had some extra space where we were sitting. The weather was great, we saw a cool crash, and none of us chose the winner. We got made fun of by several of our friends for going, but now at least we can say that we've truly experienced life in the dirty south.

Spencer- why can't you take a normal picture? The other one that we took together he was poking the Twizzler in my chest!

This is what happened on the way home. Spencer's bumper fell off!! haha!

Halloween, Camping, Baby Blessing, Wedding Singer, Volleyball, and Tennis

Wow - that title sums up just about everything I've done in the past week, and I have loved (almost) every minute of it.

Friday night Spencer and I decided to go camping. After being together for a total of 4 years, we had never gone camping before. This is the perfect time of the year because the weather can't get any better. It was a little last minute and not planned very well, but we got by. We drove around looking for a campsite, and made it to Hard Labor Creek just in time to get a fire started and our tent up before it got dark. We made silver turtles and of course s'mores. I couldn't believe it when Spencer told me that not only had he never tasted a s'more before, but he had never roasted a marshmallow before. We just about froze that night because we didn't even bring our own sleeping bags, just shared one blanket and one pillow. The next morning we went canoing. It was a very enjoyable trip for the both of us.

Saturday night we went to a Halloween Party hosted by Greg and Melissa Pyne. They have an amazing house and spent a lot of time and money decorating it with the perfect Halloween touch. Spencer and I won the costume contest.

Sunday we drove out to Cedartown for Braden Milkwick's blessing. The meeting was nice. You can read about it and see pictures on Jessica's blog. That little baby is just so darn cute!!

Monday night we had a volleyball game for the Sandy Springs city league. We played the #1 team and lost all 3 games. These were the minutes of the week I was NOT loving. I just hate losing. We are still #2, but they were undefeated, and I wanted to be the team to ruin that for them.

Tuesday I played on my mom's ALTA tennis team. The game was supposed to be the previous Thursday but got rained out Thursday, Friday, and Monday. I was just ready to play and get it over with. Since I was just a substitute, I don't think people were expecting us to win. Well, we went to the third set and WON! I was so excited...especially since our match was the deciding factor that put the team to playoffs. I'm thinking I might play USTA this winter. I could get used to this tennis stuff :)

This past week we were invited to go see "The Wedding Singer" at the Fox Theater with Spencer's boss. It was entertaining. It basically just followed along with the movie. I enjoy musicals, so I'm glad we were able to go. Spencer even admitted that it wasn't half bad.

Called to Serve

My brother John received his mission call to serve in Bolivia, Santa Cruz! He reports to the MTC January 9. I wanted to tell everyone who hadn't heard, and tell him congrats! We are all so excited for him.

Roswell Ghost Tour

This weekend Spencer and I, along with Rebecca and Jason went on the Roswell Ghost Tour. Jason and Rebecca went last year, because October/Halloween is Jason's absolute favorite time of year. The tour was about 2 hours long and it took us all around Roswell to really old houses that have had numerous stories about ghosts told from several different people for many years. Unfortunately we did not experience any paranormal activity while on the tour, but Rebecca and I did try to give that experience to the women in the bathroom by beating on their doors and running away. They told us that in this particular women's bathroom there was a lot of paranormal activity, and the locks would unlock and the doors fly open. I guess there are some perverted ghosts out there. Anyways, at the end of the tour we stopped at a restaurant and had the most delicious hot chocolate I think I've ever had.

Now if any of you are looking for a real scare, you can go where we ventured last year. There is an insane asylum in Dunwoody that is named one of the top haunted places in the state. Apparently there was a lot of torture and abuse given in the basement where people died. Now it is vacated and about to be torn down. You could be brave like Spencer, Jason, and me and climb the fence and even walk in - or you could be WEAK like Rebecca and stay in the car while singing church hymns. It's up to you. Here is a clip I found on the internet about it:
Dunwoody - Insane Asylum - You will walk in rooms with no windows and feel a cool breeze come across your body. There is a morgue in the basement and at sometimes you can see dead ghosts lying in the morgue trays. You hear footsteps walking down the 3-floor building steps, and can feel presence behind you. This is the all-time best place to go to if you want to be frightened.

Baby CRAZE!

The last month has been a crazy one. I know 6 people who had babies in this time period, and still one more due in November. I remember earlier this year when I was getting phone call after phone call of people who found out they were expecting. Now they are all delivering. I wanted to tell all the mothers who just had a baby recently congratulations!! I am always willing to help if you need anything.

I also just hosted a baby shower for Emily. She's the one due next month. We had a great turn out, and Emily got a lot of good presents. I'm always happy when I'm in charge and it turns out to be a success.

I was thinking about getting pictures of everyone's babies and posting them, but honestly I wouldn't feel right about posting other people's babies on my blog without their permission. It's just too much work for me to go around asking permission. Sorry - but if you scroll down my friends' blogs you can be sure to see most of them.
