Nanny Diaries

Last Monday as I was leaving work, my boss pulled me aside and said that after Friday they would not be needing me anymore. WHAT? BUT THESE GIRLS NEEEED ME! I didn't respond like that, but just nodded my head. He further explained that with his new job he is home more, and just can't afford a nanny any longer. If you don't know, I have been a nanny for this family since February, but feel like it's been 5 years. I felt as though those girls were mine, considering the fact that I picked them up from the bus stop every day and put them to sleep at night. I was their mom for crying out loud. And he gave me 1 weeks notice. I got to work the next day and waited to see if the girls would say anything about me leaving....and nothing. Their dad didn't even tell them. I don't think he even realizes what I've been to them. So I pull them aside and tell them that Friday would be my last day. One of them took it well, and the other one started crying, complaining that now she would have to be with her mom, who sleeps all day, and nobody would help her with her homework, and nobody would take her to do anything fun. It broke my heart. We ended the week with a perfect day. I took the girls to Target, Coldstone, and then to my house. While I got ready to go to a wedding, they raided my closet and played dress up while watching my wedding video. It was great. Before I left, I gave them my phone number so they could call whenever they needed me. While I was driving to the wedding, I was feeling a little sad thinking of how attached to these girls I was. Then my phone rings, and it's them, and they were already missing me. How sweet:)

I always tell people that I got more frustrated with the parents than I did with parents more than with the girls. It breaks my heart not being able to be there to make sure they get enough love and attention that I know their parents don't give them. I'm going to try to stay a part of their lives for as long as I can.

Since I heard that I wouldn't be working anymore, I have gotten 3 offers for babysitting...without those people even knowing I wouldn't be working anymore. One was a lady at McDonalds who saw me with the girls and thought I looked nice. She just moved to the area and is looking for someone for her 2 year old girl. Another is a lady that I met at the bus stop, and the third is LaLona. It just so happens that LaLona's nanny has to be out of town for family matters until the end of the year....so I'll be working for her through December. It worked out perfectly for everyone...well I guess except for those 2 girls who will be without responsible adult supervision.

Daytona 2007

Last weekend - well I guess 2 weekends ago (sorry I take so long to update) Spencer and I went down to Dayton, Florida to visit with Spencer's old mission companion and his family. It was a super fun weekend. It was great to finally be able to meet this companion that I have heard countless stories about. They were two peas in a pod...and not much had changed in 10 years for them. They had 2 cute kids that gave us nonstop entertainment. I would post pictures, but our camera's not accessible for me right now. The weather was perfect - and I even got a little tan :)

This most recent weekend my family took us to see Brian Reagan. My family is totally obsessed with him and quote him all the time, but Spencer and I had only seen a few of his videos. If you don't know him, he's a comedian that is known and liked for his clean humor concerning every day things. It was quite a show. He was very fun to watch, but perhaps even better was the lady sitting next to me.

Also this weekend my friend Emily had her baby! Congrats! Little Jack was born on Saturday. I can't wait to meet him!

Just an update on Spencer - we should be hearing ANY DAY NOW about the Navy. Keep us in your prayers so we can finally move on with our lives. Thanks!
