Christmas 2010

Christmas was really nice this year. Although we missed our families, we definitely enjoyed making our own plans and having no real expectations from anybody else. We got to sleep in, eat a delicious breakfast, open presents, relax, and then meet up with our friends for dinner and a movie. No stress, no chaos. Thank you for all the gifts and cards that everyone sent! I must say my favorite gift was from my mom and dad. They gave us a book of every single home video ever made in our life and put them on dvds. They have video of my blessing day all the way up to present day. It was such a great surprise! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

*a few notes. our tree was skirtless this year. i never got around to getting one. and second of all, i feel like i need to explain spencer and lee in the last pictures. they were roommates on the boat when they were deployed. so they got close. really close. obviously.

Christmas Eve with the Obama Ohana

This Christmas Eve was not like any other we've had. First of all, we went to the beach. And I don't think I've ever been to the beach around Christmas time at all. Second of all, we were at the beach with the Obamas. Cool, right? We thought so. We went to the beach on the marine base. It is always pretty secluded, and there are almost always great waves there. We drive up and see two security guys in the parking lot. We get out of our car, and one of them comes up to us, flashes his Secret Service badge to us, and kindly asks us to move our car to the lower lot. We later get to down to the beach and have one of the MANY Secret Service agents look screen our bags. About 10 minutes after that, everyone at the beach, including all the surfers, have to go up to the parking lot to get scanned with the metal detector. After all of that madness, the Obama entourage finally makes their appearance. They came with all sorts of family members and another crew of employees that I have no idea what they do. I only know they were all together because one of them eventually came up to me and asked me to not take pictures because "they are on their family vacation". Yeah...and....??? He's the president. And I want to take pictures. Anyways. Here are the pictures. He is waving at me. I had one hand on the camera, and the other hand waving in the air. His daughters are really cute, and his wife (I'm actually not 100% sure that is his wife. When I zoomed in close, it didn't really look like her) had a really cute swimsuit on(not surprised). Oh, they also had their own personal lifeguard in the water with the kids, a personal photographer, and lunch catered to them in cute brown baskets. What a life.

Honolulu Christmas Lights

The Christmas lights in Honolulu were so beautiful and perfect to get us in the Christmas spirit. This will definitely be a tradition for the next 3 years.

*Yes, those Star Wars guys were very random. I have no idea what Star Wars has to do with Christmas. The guy stirring the popcorn in the large tub was our friend Kana'i that we ran in to. And the last picture is Spencer with King Kamehameha.
