Bringing Autumn to Hawaii

It's that time of year again. The only time of year I wish I wasn't living in Hawaii. The time of year when I hear about changing weather, colorful leaves, pumpkin farms, etc. and don't get to experience any of it. Sure, it gets a little cooler, but it's still warm enough to go with shorts. Even warm enough for the beach. Last year I was in California for fall, so this will be my first year going without it. Oh well. To try to make up for it, I've hit the kitchen for some fall treats to lesson my sadness.

I couldn't help but buy the pumpkin (isn't the white one cool?) and gourds. A constant reminder of the season. Add a nice smelly candle, and I've already got a nice autumn tone set.

First was apple crisp. It turned out really rich, but really delicious. My very favorite part is the topping, so I went a little overboard with it. If you end up making it, just make sure you don't forget the vanilla ice cream. Yum.

Next up: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins. I've been craving these for a while now. Spencer said they smell like Thanksgiving. These are going to be a fall tradition in our household for many years to come.
